For Growers United, Triple Group produced the logistics design and then did the project management for the realization of the newly built packaging and distribution center on the Honderdland business park in Maasdijk.
Initially, in 2017 Triple Group was commissioned by growers' association Prominent to help think about a new packaging and distribution center, as they wanted to face the future from a larger enclosure. One thing led to another. Why not think in (even) bigger terms? After all, the growers' association Prominent and its vine tomatoes are part of a larger cooperative that includes producers of bell peppers, cucumbers and eggplants. Long story short, the study gradually became larger and a Schedule of Requirements was drawn up for a large-scale packaging and distribution center including a sales office for the entire cooperative.
The goals were clear to the entrepreneurs: to realize a new packaging and distribution center that is large enough to accommodate the future growth of the organization, again using the latest technology to further improve the efficiency of the processes. In addition, the new building had to be able to accommodate new partners from the cooperative, it had to be sustainable and it had to be pleasant to work in.
Our role as project manager is that of spider in the web that takes care of the client. From day one, we follow our own step-by-step plan for this type of assignment that brings everything together: process, coordination and budget. At the start, the wishes and frameworks of the client and the government were made clear. We introduced a consultation structure so that both owners and users could be properly heard and interests could be coordinated in a timely manner.
After various studies, several spot plans were made from which the optimal logistical design was worked out. The logistics process is leading, only then are the architectural shell and all other installations designed. We then selected contractors and the construction could begin. During construction, we closely followed the planning and budget, so that the building was realized on time and within budget.
October 2020 saw the completion of Growers United's state-of-the-art packaging and distribution center.
